🎧Wow- this one really took me by surprise. It’s an audio original which means there won’t be a print copy and that it was specifically written/produced as an audiobook.

⏲️The duration of the audiobook was a little less than 4 hours so I was not expecting much, so I was extra surprised. This comes on the heels of me being disappointed by several short audiobooks/novellas lately. This did not feel like a novella, but rather a full and complete story and the perfect length in my opinion!

📞Literally from the first second, I was hooked. It starts with a very realistic sounding phone call (sound effects and all) to a suicide prevention hotline. When Felicia takes the call of a girl desperate and out of options after her life has been turned upside down by abuse, she takes it upon herself to make sure the girl is safe. I dare you to listen to the first five minutes and try to stop!

🫣I would tell you not to read the synopsis as I think it hints at too much and a lot of why I enjoyed this is that I went in totally blind and spoiler free!

🐄As a Wisconsin resident, I especially liked that the story took place in Wisconsin (even though it had nothing to do with the plot, it feels good when people remember Wisconsin is a state, LOL)

⚠️While this #audiobook deals with heavy topics of abuse, specifically rape, it is not overly graphic and is handled very delicately. I wasn’t surprised when I did a little research on the author to learn that she was a former clinical psychologist and leading researcher in childhood trauma. You can tell she really speaks from a place of expertise and experience and I appreciate that when handling such sensitive topics as discussed here.

🔊I am loving the trend of #audiobookoriginals and think this is great one to start with, especially if you’re new to #audiobooks!
