💓When it comes to romance, I pretty much stick to the handful of authors I trust! While I’m extremely picky about what romance I read, Abby Jimenez has definitely earned a spot on my auto-read romance authors list! This book was not a threat to that in any way! I’ll keep reading her books as long as she keeps writing them!
🐶As far as readability goes, this was incredibly easy to fly through! I think I listened to the whole audiobook in a 24hr period; I never felt like putting it down.
💓I will say, this book wasn’t very happy-go-lucky, to say it lightly. I feel like it’s a trend in romance lately to walk a fine line between romance with depth and trauma dumping/emotional manipulation. There were a couple times I had to roll my eyes at the long list of terrible things that all happened at once. Is it realistic? Honestly, yes. Real life can hit you all at once and be miserable. I guess I’m just deciding lately if I love this super heavy romance trend or if I want to stick to the light and happy romances.
🐶There were a couple things I think will take some readers by surprise, one of them being animal cruelty, which I know is a big no-no for many readers. While it was mostly off-page, it was still rather jarring. Did it ultimately play a key roll in the plot? Yes. I think they way she tied everything together in the end was really beautiful actually.
💓As far as the two of them falling in love? I loved it. I thought it was realistic and adorable. I really have zero complaints about either character and for once found both of them to be likeable people!
🎧I think a big reason why I enjoyed this one was the audiobook production itself. Both the male and female narrator did an outstanding job becoming their individual character! They were both easy to listen to! If you’re considering picking this one up, I highly recommend the audiobook for the best possible experience!
