🏊I have read many of Backman’s books and one thing that is always consistent is that his writing is absolutely stunning. He has a way with words that many, even many authors, don’t have. Numerous times a simple sentence knocked the wind out of me! I had to re-read sentences/paragraphs because I couldn’t fully grasp the depth of his imagery in one take.

📖The story was very original. I don’t read too many books mainly focused on teenagers, so I really appreciated that aspect. Watching them grow as friends and individuals through all the fun and hard times sweet and special. If you spend any time around teenagers, you know how accurately they were portrayed here!

🏊I was struck by the beautiful writing, cared deeply for the characters, and was invested in the story/plot itself.

📖There were times I was a curious where the story was going as it lulled a bit, but the writing and my commitment to the characters kept me going! I do think this one could have packed a stronger punch for me if it was trimmed down, but I also understand that a lot of the details were necessary for the individual characters and their journeys.

🎧Marin Ireland narrated the Beartown series and that’s where I first fell in love with her voice! All Backman books should be read by Marin; it just makes ✨sense✨!

📖Overall, definitely one I’d recommend to a general audience!
