π§AUDIOBOOK REVIEWπ§
βββββ

β€οΈWhile a lot of people feel wrong rating memoirs because they feel like they’re rating people’s personal experiences, I feel more than comfortable giving @jillmdillard 5 βs simply for the bravery that it took for her to write this book knowing how much she was risking in telling the truth.
And she did just that.
β€οΈJill doesn’t overly scandalize her family or say things for the *shock factor*, she simply states the truth of what happened to her during the course of her life and leaves it up to the reader to make the judgements.
β€οΈThe realities of growing up in the spotlight, having her entire life filmed (even against her will as an adult), being a victim of sexual abuse and not being compensated for her work on the show are just a few of the topics she addresses.
β€οΈWhile very different, I couldn’t help think of Jennette McCurdy’s book while reading this and how damaging it is for children to grow up in the public eye.
β€οΈThere’s so much more I could say about this book and have pages of other thoughts, but I’ll just say once again how proud I am of Jill for sharing her story. I’m sure this will help so many who find themselves in similar situations.
π§The audiobook is narrated by Jill and only about 7 hours and I couldn’t stop listening.
πIf you’ve read this book and want to talk about it, my DMs are open!!
