🖤As a non-fantasy reader, the best compliments I can give to this book are these:

📖This did NOT feel like a 19hr audiobook at all
📖I was NOT confused by complicated world-building
📖I was NOT overwhelmed by a ridiculous amount of characters

🖤The chunkiness of this book originally had me intimidated, thinking I wouldn’t be able to do it (I have a short attention span, OK?), but there was never really a point I didn’t want to keep reading this book!

📖I love that it felt so approachable and think a lot of us who don’t typically read fantasy will have an easy time loving this story and characters.

🖤I loved both of the main characters, was shocked by certain plot twists, and was left wanting more at the end. I will absolutely be first in line to read book two and I’m thrilled for Dani at the early success of this debut already!

⚠️This was definitely much spicier than I prefer to read and I did skip through a couple scenes, which was super easy to do as they’re mostly at chapter ends.

🎧The narrator did a great job embodying our main character, Wren Darlington (love her name, BTW). She had the perfect strong & sassy voice for Wren! I also really appreciated how expressive she was in her reading!
