πThis book was SO unique! The only book I could even sort of compare it to would be Junie by Erin Crosby Eckstine and mostly just because of combination of historical literary fiction with supernatural elements.
π Cape Fever is a blend of a psychological thriller and literary fiction in my opinion. It reads like a traditional literary fiction novel, but then suddenly it becomes a VERY intense and suspenseful read. Throw in the supernatural elements, and itβs a genre all its own!
π»The story takes place in the 1920s when a young maid, Soraya, begins working for a lady named Mrs. Hattingh. She has some strange behaviors, but things in her house soon become even stranger. The ending really surprised me, and I felt SO many emotions for Soraya.
π Bravo to Nadia Davids for such an original concept and for such deep and beautiful writing!
π§Wow, Roshina Ratnam was the absolute perfect choice for this. Her voice carried all the emotion and depth that this story required. I need to look for more books narrated by her!
